News: Mangoes and More in Mobile Kusina Live in Cebu

Mobile Kusina Live! traveled to SM Cebu and taught audiences how to use mangoes to spice up even the most common recipes. Featured chef at the MANGOES AND MORE... event was Cebu's Rose Marie Lim-Garcia of Caro & Marie Culinary Arts Studio shared with the live audience the different ways -- new and old -- of using mangoes in several recipes, among them Sinigang with Mangoes. She prepared a full course meal that included Crab Mango Rolls, Kangkong Salad with Mango-Ginamos Dressing, Roast Chicken with Mango-Cucumber Salsa, Corned Beef-Mango Fried Rice Omelet, Mango Strawberry Trifle, No Bake Mango Tiramisu Cheesecake Bars.

The chef was a natural choice for the show by sponsor San Miguel Pure Foods because she has been endorsing Magnolia products in the south's Queen City for about a decade now. The Cebu-based chef strayed into the kitchen early. “At a young age I already knew that what I wanted was to cook and teach." At 12, Lim-Garcia was already cooking and baking. She began accepting orders at 16, and taught her first cooking class at 18.

Lim-Garcia was remains enthusiastic about sharing learnings with Mobile Kusina audience: "Learn basic cooking skills first -- from watching other people cook, by attending demos and culinary classes, or by reading cookbooks and magazines." She points out that in the kitchen, as in life, experience is the best teacher: "Do not be afraid to make mistakes because it is from these mistakes that we learn. I always tell my students to try and try until they get it right."

Recca and Yuri, hosts of local TV Show Oi! facilitated the Q & A portion, over 300 participants where very eager to learn more about the proper way of cooking and baking.

Mobile Kusina is a kitchen-on-wheels program that brings culinary experts to various destinations all over the country through a series of free cooking and baking demonstrations/classes featuring innovative and practical recipes that they can do at home.
