Ingredients

1-1/4 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup BAKER'S BEST MARGARINE
1 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGG
TOPPING:
1/2 cup BAKER'S BEST MARGARINE
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS, slightly beaten
1/4 cup MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
3/4 cup chopped nuts (peanuts, cashew or walnuts)

Procedure

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a 7" x 11" baking pan with aluminum foil. Set aside.
  2. Combine flour and baking powder. Cut in margarine with a pastry cutter or with 2 knives until well blended. Add egg. Mix well. Press dough evenly over the base of prepared pan. 
  3. Bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Topping: Melt margarine. Remove from heat then combine with syrup, sugar, egg and flour.
  5. Take out baked crust from the oven and top with nuts then pour topping. 
  6. Bake again for 15 minutes in the oven. Cut into squares.
